Who is Jillian?

When you are the daughter of a former on air DJ. Music runs deep in my soul. When you are a Virgo communication is your heartbeat.

I am the editor and founder of Finding Connecticut. Connecticut’s fastest growing blog about Connecticut. From concert announcements to small business to sports. I find intersting stuff and share. I grew the website from 0 visitors to over 450K visitors in just under two and half years.

I am a current student at Penn State. Working on a double major of digital arts and journalism.

New England raised, New York inspired.
Being raised in Maine taught me a lot about life, my expectations and my standards of living. I spent a good part of my life in Maine with spending summers in New Jersey allowed me to learn about other cultures and learn to adapt and respect different values other than my own. (Who doesn’t like a grilled pork roll and cheese with a Yuengling on a warm summer Saturday? #igrewupinjersey) I love being close to New York City, I love being able to plan a random trip when I want to regroup and escape life for a few hours.

What’s up with Westport?
I’m working on a photography project in New York City. After living in Newburgh, New York for a few years my first instinct was to catch the train in Beacon. I saw I could spend more time in the city photographing if I drove to Stamford. I was thinking of moving back at the time and was checking out the Stamford/Cos Cob area, but a weekend in NYC/Norwalk and being in the wrong lane at the right time landed me in Westport. After traveling back and forth between Maine and Westport during 2017-2018 I decided to start Finding Westport. (ask anyone who knows, I LOVE Westport!) I love this project and what it has turned into. Within a year I have met some amazing people, been introduced to some new and exciting places and am always learning something new.

I create things
It was back in high school when realized I wanted to create things for the rest of my life. First, it was writing, then after a few twists and turns and taking some art classes, I landed on graphic design. I haven’t looked back. I love the challenge of projects and getting to know clients. I have had ads in major engineering magazines, I used to design the local section for a local newspaper, and started my own graphic design business. I love the challenge graphic design comes with it, from building something from scratch and putting a puzzle together.
I am also a photographer. I love being behind the camera and photographing events and local hotspots. My photography portfolio includes everything from small events (including weddings), landscape, cityscape, and family.
