I was unsure if I was going to do the 31 photos 31 days this year. My focus through out the year was getting Finding Westport up and going. I really didn’t photograph like I usually do. Sure I took my camera with me to Westport and did some stuff, but I didn’t make it to Acadia National Park like I wanted or a few places in Connecticut. 2018 was more like a break from my camera.
This photo was taken at the end of last year. It’s more of a reflection of my year and a reminder to stand tall during the difficult times. Which is what I did. I am still trying to figure out if 2019 was just a test, or exactly what it was. Filled with highs and lows, regardless of what life threw at me, it reminded me to stand tall.
I took this photo a year ago, it was going to be the holiday card I sent out to small businesses in Westport. When I printed it, it did look right and scrapped it. But I love this because of the adventure behind it. My plan was to photograph the Cribari Memorial Bridge and found out that the lights were not on and it was unknown when and if they would be on. I was talking to a friend of mine and I wasn’t sure what to do and joking said I should get a pineapple and a string of lights and and photograph it at the beach. I ran around Westport with a lit pineapple – we went to Compo Beach, Sherwood Island State Park, Downtown.. we were all over the place. It was great! And I love telling the story.
